Why i'm here

After spending many years in the music industry it struck me that unbeknownst to myself i had learned through a necessity to further my singer/songwriting endeavours, all of the different stages to building a career. Starting out in Australia in 1998 i ventured into my first recording studio in Redfern, Sydney with my new friend and songwriting partner Declan O Rourke where we recorded seven original songs in twelve and a half hours and a lifelong love of music and the business of music had begun.

A year later we were in Dublin at open mic and singer/songwriting nights, those were great nights where a lot of well known Irish songwriters first found their feet, Damian Dempsey, Damian Rice, Gemma Hayes and Declan himself. I went in a different direction, first recording then live sound, my first tour was doing sound and tour management for Declan on his Since Kyabram tour, i knew very little about either job but this is the way i've learned, jumping in at the deep end.

When i eventually got around to recording my first album Little Apples i realised i needed a website and there was no budget for one, that was ten years ago and we weren't spoilt for choice with all the drag and drop website builders we have now ( this site is built with one ), i got a €700 quote from a web designer which was too much for me at the time, so i looked at building one myself. I ended up building one with Bandzoogle for about €200 and have built many since.

Two albums, two Eps, a big bluegrass/folk band, playing Vicer Street, Olympia, Electric Picnic, doing supports all over the country, booking tours, shooting videos, photoshoots, radio, learning new instruments, producing, learning about music pr, television, social media marketing and i'm ready to share what i've learned the hard way so that the same mistakes don't need to be made by new artists.
